When I Die

As morbid as it seems, thinking about the end of life is great motivation for one to really LIVE. Not sure what it is about today, but I am feeling incredibly anxious and unsure about my future in the arts. Perhaps part of it is because MGS told me about one of his friends who decided to quit theater completely and is now going into a pre-med program… um, what?

Truthfully, I don’t know what I’d do if not for the arts. But right now, I feel like my artistic pursuits are tied to having a day job to pay the bills. How can I divorce my day job and be faithful only to performing and writing? At the end of the day, when I’m dead and gone, I don’t want to be remembered as the guy who tried and dabbled, but the guy who DID and CONQUERED.

I do love this video of Jenifer Lewis. My favorite line: “The elevator to success is broken – TAKE THE STAIRS.”
